The first year of Parafix’s sponsorship of the Sussex Senior Challenge Cup reached a climax at the Brighton and Hove Amex stadium last Saturday. The showpiece final, between Bognor and Brighton’s development squad, was played out before a crowd of 2,500 people.
A hat-trick by Toby Agdestein and a goal from ex-Bognor loanee George Barker killed off any hopes that the Rocks could cause an upset against a host side that may have been young but included a number of players with Seagulls first-team experience.
After a tough battle, which was much closer than the score suggests, Brighton ran out 4-0 winners. It may have been a different story if Bognor had converted a first-half penalty but, overall, Brighton was the stronger team and deserved their success.
Parafix director, Colin Wills handed medals to both teams and then presented the trophy to Brighton’s captain, Norwegian international Toby Agdestein. Predictably, Toby was also “man of the match”, having assisted in the fourth goal as well as scoring his three!
