On Sunday 29th March Mid Sussex Golf Club met with Lindfield Golf Club at Lindfield knowing full well that they had to either half the match or win it to take the Parafix League trophy again.
The weather turned out to be conducive to good golf and our day began with the captains playing together. Mid Sussex captain Allen Morgan and partner Lee Martin were the first casualty losing 3 & 2 but the tail end 'Charlies' of Tony Mepham and Trevor Greeyer won 5 & 4. The captain's hopes were raised by this victory and this was closely followed by Jason Hayes and Joe Docherty winning 2 up. In the middle of the field was Terry Fleet and Wayne Sherbourne finishing 1 up. Last but not least were Phil Stillwell and Melvyn Lord winning 2 & 1. Allen was fairly confident first thing in the morning to the point of taking a bottle of Champagne with him and after the final speeches around tea and sandwiches the champagne was duly cracked open.
All the participating teams of the Parafix Winter League are looking forward to the Gala Day on the 10th May at Mid Sussex.
