Sussex manufacturing firm Parafix has signed a three year deal to become the new main sponsor of the historic Sussex Senior Challenge Cup.
From the start of the 2013 season, the tournament will be renamed the Parafix Sussex Senior Cup. As part of the deal, this year’s final, to be played at the Amex Stadium on May 12, will also be sponsored by Parafix. The sponsorship package will help secure the future of the Cup, launched in 1883 and still the major county cup competition.
Colin Wills, a Director at Lancing-based Parafix, said: “I am thrilled to sign this deal with the Sussex County Football Association and help support the Cup which, every year, inspires local community teams to fight for the prestigious title."
“For well over a century the Cup has attracted the best that Sussex has to offer and I am delighted Parafix is now playing a part in maintaining this respected event.”
Parafix is the UK's leading convertor and distributor of self-adhesive materials from the world's top manufacturers, including 3M, using state-of-the-art equipment to cut tapes to highly accurate specifications.
On average, consumers in the UK touch an item containing a Parafix product up to 30 times a day, whether it’s a mobile phone, a television or our cars.
Sussex County FA chief executive, Ken Benham, said: “This is a hugely exciting time for the Sussex Senior Cup and we are delighted to welcome Parafix as our new competition sponsor.”
“Restoring the magic of the Senior Cup is something that has been high on my agenda in recent years. With the final once again being held at Brighton’s state-of-the-art American Express Community Stadium, the Senior Cup is well and truly back on the map and it’s all made possible by partnerships like this.”
This year’s finalists are Whitehawk and Crawley Down. The match will take place on May 12th.
Previous Cup winners include Brighton & Hove Albion, Crawley Town, Eastbourne Borough, Lewes, Worthing and Horsham.
