Afera, the European Association for the Self Adhesive Tape Industry, today announced the appointment of Michael A Punter, Managing Director of Parafix Holdings Ltd, as Chairman of the Marketing Committee, who voted unanimously in his favour.
Michael said of his appointment: “I am looking forward to heading an integral part of Afera’s mission to serve and promote the interests of the European self-adhesive tape industry. Naturally, I am delighted to have the full support of the Marketing Committee,”
Afera’s Marketing Committee (MKC) is a working group composed of marketing and industry tape specialists assisted by the Secretary-General of the Association. Meeting at least two times a year, the MKC handles any marketing topic referring to the self-adhesive tape business that is of common interest to Afera's Members. Promotional activities for Afera and for the tape market, plus Afera's website and magazine, are special items which fall under the attention of the MKC. The marketing consequences of environmental issues are also the MKC’s responsibility.
The position of head of marketing for Afera has been open since earlier this year, when former MKC Chairman Carsten Meyer-Rackwitz of tesa announced his transfer to the U.S. division of his company.
Mr. Punter has been a contributing Member of the MKC for 5 years. More recently, he chaired an Afera MKC subgroup representing the European tape converting industry. The Specialty Die Cutters Group, however, have reintegrated into the MKC due to lack of time and resources. Within Afera Membership, Parafix falls under a specific category created for ‘other participants’—i.e. converters—in the Association’s activities and use of its resources.
Afera’s Steering Committee, who approved Mr Punter’s election, installed the MKC Chairman at the Association’s General Assembly on 5 October. He will assume the post for two years.
