In August two of our cycling enthusiasts took part in a Brighton to Paris bike ride in aid of the Argus Appeal Charity.
Dave Moore (R&D Adviser and H&S Practitioner) and Paul Bickmore (Quality Assurance Technician) took on the 150 mile challenge to raise money for the local charity that aims to give assistance to those in need, in particular disadvantaged children, the elderly, the vulnerable and those with disabilities.
The cycling duo have taken on a number of cycle challenges in the past, including the South Downs Way challenge that covered an impressive 110 miles off-road. Their latest challenge took them along the quieter routes towards France’s Capital, along disused railway lines, canal paths and country roads, finishing in the heart of Paris. Participants enjoyed a well-earned day of rest in Paris after the event.
Participants are expected to have jointly raised around £30,000 in total; an impressive sum that will go to those in need throughout Sussex.
The boys have raised an impressive £1,285 of their £1,300 target so far and are still collecting last minute donations. If you would like to make a donation please visit their Just Giving page, or text CHEC54 £5 (or other sum) to 70070.
Dave said of the event: ”It was great fun, great craic. All the people who took part are different ages and different abilities but as a group they all came together and helped each other out, it’s like a big family group. I am looking forward to doing Belgium next year.”
We would like to say a very big thank you to the following for their generous donations:
