This year’s event was held a little earlier in the year, that is, at the end of June and, as such, the very wet and late spring weather brought about some challenges at the first cut and beyond.
In fact, we weren’t the only ones to be challenged; Hickstead was being held over the same weekend and the local farmers earned a bit on the side towing cars and horseboxes off the fields.
Nevertheless the 28 participants arrived on time, enjoyed the day and stayed late; some then returning to the Duke of York where they started the night before.
The weather was excellent as was some of the golf. The morning Texas Scramble event was won with a record net score of 27.6, equalling the previous gross score of 31 held by Mike Punter’s group.
This year’s winners were Martin Adams, Peter Hobson (both of 3M), Debbie Fardell (clearly the influencer) and captained by our very own Steve Barwick, well done team.
The afternoon individual Stableford was won by Big Dick Simpson on a count back and the member’s prize by Roger Saxby. Other side events; the longest drive was won by John Reeve and nearest the pin by Mike Punter.
Next year will be the 23rd continual annual event and if you are interested in playing please contact your Business Development Manager.
