When considering adhesive science and the challenges of a substrate like skin, design engineers know sticking-to-skin is trickier than you would think. Wear time in particular poses a number of challenges such as balancing holding power vs. patient comfort.
3M’s extensive portfolio offers a number of stick-to-skin solutions and now includes 4076 tape, a single coated non-woven, with a wear time of up to 14 days.
The 3M non-woven is non-sensitising with a conformable adhesive, developed for long-term wear, providing a bond that is firm yet comfortable so patients may not even realise they’re wearing a device.
“Sticking to skin presents a major challenge to the medical device industry,” says Diana Eitzman, PhD, Director of Agile Commercialisation, 3M Critical and Chronic Care Solutions Division. “By equipping our customers with the latest adhesive technology, we’re giving them the power to solve their toughest design challenges and positively impact patients’ lives globally.”
3M’s 4076 long-wear tape complies with ISO:10993 and ISO:10993-10, medical industry regulations that assess a product’s potential to produce irritation and skin sensitisation, and is approved for use on intact skin.
