Following up from the live updates we shared on our social media on the day of the arrival, we are thrilled to announce new additions to our arsenal of high-tech machines – 2 new Delta ModTech die cutting machines!
The new die cutting Deltas were custom configured for our needs and inspected by our engineers while still in the factory in the US. They were then taken apart and carefully packaged in 3 rather large shipping containers – one of them weighed over 17 tonnes! Sussex Transport helped us with the logistics and organised what felt like an industrial version of Christmas morning at our Sussex facility.
Once the Deltas were unpacked and moved into their new home in our Class 7 Clean Room, we used the machines’ pneumatic thrusters to move them into place. These downward gusts of pressurised air lifted the Deltas and allowed the several-tonne-heavy machines to be easily moved by simply pushing them by hand. The machines were then set up by Delta’s own engineers and we intend to start production on them in the new year.
The new Deltas join 2 other Deltas and will expand Parafix’s capacity to deliver on more complex and challenging projects; ones involving several stages, tight tolerances and a Clean Room environment. The new Deltas will be able to manufacture engineered products for many industries, especially benefiting projects in healthcare, electronics and aerospace. We previously used Deltas in the production of diagnostic test strips, where the multi stage, tight tolerance, die cutting ability allowed us to manufacture components which exceeded the customer’s already strict expectations.
We would love to hear about projects you’re involved in and we can help you consider how engineered adhesives can make your end product lighter, slimmer and securely bonded.
