Due to our long-term growth plans and previous successes we had working with education institutions, Parafix has made two new partnerships recently. Together with University of Brighton and the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), we appointed an Automation & Data Analytics Engineer, and with the University of Chichester, an Engineering Apprentice.
Our new Automation & Data Analytics Engineer is Mr Nishant Wilson (pictured left) who will be working on a 3 year project with the aim of improving our processes and operations through the use of data. Nishant has a Master’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Coventry University and will be looking how to first collect data from our machines and then how to use that data to improve process efficiency and thus reduce cost.
Nishant looks forward to this admittedly challenging project and the new technologies he will master through it. He hopes his time at Parafix will help him on his path to become a chartered engineer.
Our new Engineering Apprentice is Mr Sivanujan Sivanathan (pictured right) who will be undertaking a BEng (Hons) degree in Manufacturing Engineering which will take 4 years to complete. He will attend lectures for 1.5 days a week at the University of Chichester and spend the rest of his time at Parafix. Siv will be offered training in a number of areas and will have the opportunity to become a full-time member of the R&D Development team after completing his apprenticeship.
Siv sees an invaluable opportunity for students in the ability to learn from established businesses, while simultaneously getting a degree and wishes more apprenticeships would be offered so more students and businesses can take advantage of opportunities like this.
Parafix’s management is delighted about the new appointments! Vince Booker, Parafix’s Production Manager (pictured in the middle), said, “We are pleased to be working with the academia again. Our previous experience with KTP and apprenticeships have shown great results and we look forward to enabling Nishant and Siv to succeed with their projects, as well. We are in the relative early days of Industry 4.0 and expect to be offering our customers even more benefits data-driven technologies can bring.”
