The Sussex Golf Winter League, sponsored by Lancing company Parafix Tapes & Conversions Ltd, is drawing to a close with everything to play for in the final stages. The clubs involved include Chichester, Hassocks, Lindfield, Mid Sussex and Singing Hills.
After seven matches the top two clubs, Singing Hills and Mid-Sussex, are neck and neck, with many observers believing that it will come down to the last week to decide the outcome. Following the final games, there will be a Gala Day held on May 10th at the winning club, where the league trophy will be presented by Parafix managing director Michael Punter.
The league, previously known as the Ram Winter League, was founded in 1997 by Ram representative Mike Osborne, and in the decade since its formation has worked hard to promote goodwill between the golf clubs involved. The results of the league can be found here.
Commenting on the huge success of the league, Mr Punter said “I have spoken to a number of players who are enjoying the winter league and are making new friends and visiting new clubs, which is exactly what the league was set up for. We have been delighted to sponsor the winter golf league and look forward to presenting the trophy to the winning team in May.”
The league is also keen to hear from other clubs in the area who would like to participate in next winter’s league fixtures, run from October to March.
Parafix, which produces converted adhesive tape parts to many industries, has been a keen member of the local business community for nearly 30 years and in that time has sponsored and partaken in many local initiatives.
