The Parafix annual golf day was held in July this year and was the 20th of these golf events; previously known as the MPHFGS. The weather for the event was fabulous as the sun and the heat made for a perfect climate.
The morning 9 hole Texas scramble was won convincingly by Mike Punter’s team, comprising of Ian Poysden, David Dicker, Nik Askaroff and Mike. It started as they intended to carry on, with Poysie driving to the apron of the first hole – birdie! In fact the challenge was to get Nik and Mike’s drives in, two per player required, but as hardened professional s they managed it and returned a record six under par!
The afternoon‘s main completion was won by Ian Poysden , scoring 41 points with a handicap of seven, narrowly beating Arek , handicap nine and the local legend Dougie D Drummond off 12. These, fittingly, were the only players under their handicaps.
The members’ prize, the 20 year old hip flask was won by Fards.
Singing Hills golf club were perfect in every way, the course, the staff, the food; all perfect.
Once back to the Duke of York, Sayers Common, the rains came in but the hardy sat underneath the Harvey’s umbrellas cooling down from another fun, but challenging day.
