The Parafix annual golf day, held in July, was our 21st year of this eagerly awaited event; but, as one of the group asked, we do not have to grow up do we?
Unfortunately the weather gods failed us and we had a very wet afternoon with some members turning tail back to the club house. Once showered and changed the mood was uplifted, especially as we once again had a fantastic meal supported by the house staff of the Singing Hills Golf Club.
The morning Texas Scramble was, unsurprisingly won by Mike Punter’s group, again, but without big Dick Simpson who was caddying for his son in Portugal. However, the group which included Ian Poysden and Nik Askaroff was complemented by Simon Holmes of 3M UK.
The day was made even more exciting when it was announced on Sky Sports, whilst we were in the club house bar, that Ian’s son Josh Poysden had been awarded a two year contract extension at Warwickshire County Cricket Club and would be 12th man for the Ashes match at Edgbaston. He then went on to take a catch in the match as the substitute for Jimmy Anderson.
The very wet afternoon event, the individual Stableford was won by Mick Buckman who also took the members prize.
By end of the evening everybody had a great day. If you are interested in playing next year please contact your BDM.
