reading time
It’s been a busy month in which I’ve continued to work on projects within R&D. I’ve also been busy with my coursework to get it all finished before Christmas, as we finish for the year on 14th December. So far I’ve finished the work for one subject – Maths and Mechanical Principles. This one was the easiest to do as it is all maths based!
I’ve spent a little more time out of the office this month, including a visit to Derby for an OGP training course. This included things like writing routines and new data base programmes.
The kids at Hove Park School are still working on their electric cars and I’ve visited them again to help them, in my role as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Ambassador. They’re a crazy bunch but great to interact with, they’re keen to learn which is great to see.
My best visit of the month has to be Budapest in Hungary, where I went to meet our Hungarian colleagues. The reasons for the visit were to introduce me to Parafix Hungary, to see what they do and how they do it.
I really enjoyed seeing our second site, the offices and manufacturing facility are great. I found it interesting how some things are done differently with regard to processes, machinery and projects. I also enjoyed seeing their laser machinery and some of their lighting projects. Above you can see me using our laser in the UK! I had a really nice time; it was lovely meeting everyone, who were all really friendly and welcoming. Trying Hungarian food for the first time was also enjoyable, especially the desserts!
In December I’m moving into the Accounts Department as part of my programme of working in all departments around the business. I’ll get to experience the day to day management of payments and handling enquiries.
This will be my last blog of 2015, so Merry Christmas from me! I shall continue to share my experiences as an Apprentice next year.
