Wearable Device Attachment Innovation: New 3M Medical Tape - Gentle and Strong

3M recently launched a new medical tape intended to fill the gap in the market for gentle attachment to skin of heavier devices for longer periods of time. 3M 2480 is a single sided silicone medical tape, which can be worn up to four days. The new formulation consists of a hi-tack silicone providing increased shear performance while still keeping the gentle properties of silicone adhesives.  It is also repositionable and minimizes trauma to the patient skin upon removal. It can be sterilised with EtO.

“The 2480 3M Hi-Tack Silicone Adhesive is the first of its kind to offer the repositionable, gentle properties of silicone and achieve up to a four-day wear time, supporting heavier, more complex devices.” said Marcello Napol, Vice President of 3M Medical Device Solutions.

This adhesive is recommended for various medical devices, including continuous glucose monitoring systems, wearable monitors, sleep and incontinence devices.

3M 2480 is available in sheets, rolls, or die-cut to a custom shape. Parafix is a 3M Medical Preferred Converter with ISO class 7 clean rooms, ISO 13486:2016 accreditation for manufacturing medical devices and state-of-the-art machines.
