3M™ 5491 is a PTFE extruded film tape. It provides an exceptionally smooth surface when applied and lies flatter than typical skived PTFE film tapes. The thicker backing helps extend the service life, compared to thinner versions, when subjected to abrasion or wear.
5491 tape offers excellent chemical resistance except to organic solvents. It is commonly used in sealing and masking applications and as an easy-release surface on rollers, plates and belts where build-up of sticky materials and inks can occur.
5491 tape is available in non-standard slit rolls, sheets and custom shapes.
